Stromboli, and where to source it

Stromboli — 5best2buy.com 5BEST2BUY.COM Stromboli Italian 5best2buy.com

Stromboli is a tight roll, so you spread the filling thin and roll it snug or the middle stays doughy. Egg-wash the top and cut steam vents, and the log bakes into distinct spiral layers instead of a gummy tube.

The Ingredients — and where to get them
Cook for 1 large roll
Pizza flour
A strong bread or 00 flour makes a dough that rolls thin and holds the spiral.
500 g
Fresh mozzarella
Low-moisture here, or blot fresh well, so the roll does not steam from the inside.
10 oz
Pepperoni
Thin-sliced and layered so it renders and flavors the whole roll; a good cured pepperoni beats greasy supermarket slices.
6 oz
Parmigiano-Reggiano
Grated across the filling for a salty savory layer.
1/2 cup grated
Garlic and oregano
Garlic in the egg wash, dried oregano over the top.
1 clove, pinch oregano

The Method
  1. Roll outStretch the risen dough into a rectangle about 10 by 14 inches on a floured surface, keeping it even so it rolls cleanly.
  2. Layer thinCover with pepperoni, mozzarella, and Parmesan, leaving a border. Keep the layer thin so the roll cooks through.
  3. Roll tightRoll from a long side into a snug log, pinch the seam closed, and lay it seam-down. Egg-wash and cut three vents.
  4. BakeBake at 425F for 22 to 25 minutes until deep gold and 200F inside. Rest 10 minutes before slicing so the layers set.

Straight Answers
Can you make Stromboli in an air fryer? — Yes

Yes — bake it in a small pan or dish that fits the basket, at about 25°F below the recipe temperature. Air fryers run hot and fast, so check it early; no flipping needed.

Can you freeze Stromboli? — Yes

Yes — freeze it well-wrapped, then reheat or toast straight from frozen. Frost or glaze after thawing.

Can you make Stromboli ahead of time? — Yes

Yes — bake it a day or two ahead; it keeps well-wrapped at room temperature and freezes cleanly. Add any frosting or glaze close to serving.

Is Stromboli gluten-free? — Not as written

Not as written — it contains gluten. Make it gluten-free: swap in a gluten-free flour blend (check the other labels too).

Is Stromboli vegan? — No

No — it contains meat, so it isn’t vegetarian or vegan.
