Cheese Blintzes, and where to source it

Cheese Blintzes — 5best2buy.com 5BEST2BUY.COM Cheese Blintzes Jewish 5best2buy.com

A blintz is two easy things done well: a paper-thin crepe and a lightly sweet cheese fill, so farmer cheese with real body matters more than any trick. Fry the crepe on one side only, then fill it browned-side-in so the seam seals when you crisp it in butter.

The Ingredients — and where to get them
Cook for 4 servings
Farmer cheese
Dry and slightly tangy, it gives the fill body instead of soup; ricotta pressed dry works.
1 lb
Flour
All-purpose makes a tender crepe that still rolls without tearing.
1 cup
Eggs
Three eggs give the crepe batter its flexible film.
3
Milk
Thins the batter to a pourable cream so the crepe spreads thin.
1.5 cups
Butter
The frying fat that crisps and browns the finished blintz.
4 tbsp
Sugar
Just enough to sweeten the cheese without making it wet.

Straight Answers
Can you make Cheese Blintzes in an air fryer? — Not really

Not really — loose batter spreads and needs a flat, hot surface. Keep this one on the stovetop or griddle.

Can you freeze Cheese Blintzes? — Not ideal

You can, but the crisp coating softens. Freeze the cooked pieces, then re-crisp them in a hot oven or air fryer — never the microwave.

Can you make Cheese Blintzes ahead of time? — Prep ahead

Best fried to order — the crunch fades if it sits. Do the breading or shaping ahead and cook it fresh when you serve.

Is Cheese Blintzes gluten-free? — Not as written

Not as written — it contains gluten. Make it gluten-free: swap in a gluten-free flour blend (check the other labels too).

Is Cheese Blintzes vegan? — Vegetarian, not vegan

It’s vegetarian but not vegan as written — it has dairy and egg. Make it vegan: use plant milk, oil, or a vegan cheese for the dairy, and a flax or aquafaba egg for the egg.
